Rick learned to first play the guitar while spending time with his father at the age of 12, after that Hershel would sing and play and take the family to bluegrass festivals creating even a greater respect and love for bluegrass music. They started a band in 1995 called The Gospel Express, which is where Rick was drafted to play the mandolin and sing bass. This is when the mandolin picking started for Rick! That band not only included Rick and his father but also included his younger brother Tim. In
1997 Rick and Tim left The Gospel Express to join The New Harmony Band,
which is where they both continue to play. In Rick's spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and golfing. He also enjoys all the time the band spends together and the many festivals that they get to attend. "They are truly great friends and a great influence to me and my family." Rick and his wife, Anita, have three children and reside in Plainfield, Indiana. Email Rick at mailto:rickc@newharmonyband.com |
